People who have been to Japan before will not find the below images an unfamiliar sight. However, being the noob Hui Min I am, despite having my colleague just returning from Japan and telling me all about the exorbitant supermarket prices, was still very amazed and excited at the prices of the fruits I saw in Meidi-ya supermarket at Liang Court yesterday.

A very very big and juicy apple. Not that I have tried it and found it juicy, but being so humongous, I assumed it is very juicy and sweet to eat. And the price is... (if you can't see clearly from above)

SGD$17.50!! Just imagine..I can eat 5 plates of chicken rice in replacement of the 1 apple (albeit a huge and juicy apple).

The watermelons were not unusually huge or anything. But my collegues told me all these fruits were genetically modified and specially flown in, hence the prices. This particular watermelon costs SGD$79.00 and I can eat 2 very satisfying luncheons at raffles hotel with this money and 4 very satisfying luncheons at raffles hotel, counting in the staff discounts. WOOHOO!

And lastly, my favourite seedless grapes. Yes, grapes are usually more expensive than other fruits..but...

ISN'T SGD$199.00 FAR TOO EX FOR ONE BUNCH OF GRAPES?!?

so we spent much time in Meidi-ya Supermarket (instead of returning to the office) pondering over whether anyone actually buys all these fruits. My colleague pointed out that these fruits are perishable (duh!) hence if they actually bring in all these things, it would mean that people actually buy them and there is actually a demand for these humongous apples, standard-sized watermelon and the champagne grapes in Singapore.

Besides the prices of the fruits, my colleague and I found this very amusing.

The "CRUNKY Walking Bar"!!

What sort of name is CRUNKY? A cross between "crunchy" and "chunky"??

And, WALKING BAR??!?

and so, i've totally changed my blog template and just used one of blogger's "pick new" templates. for once, my blog background is not black and everything is so neat and proper.

i've taken down the tagboard so just leave comments after each post if you wish. and i'll put up the link for the pictures soon. it'll all be under my shutterfly account, so all pictures can still be found under that one link.

was supposed to meet ken for lunch today at raffles, havent seen him for so so long! but i realised i was going to some hotel for a lunch reception with my 3 other colleagues today. FREE LUNCH so i had to cancel on ken. SORRY!! but anyway, the lunch was nothing to rave about (other than the fact that is was free and is an alternative to staff canteen food), but the medi-ya supermarket at liang court is super cool.

4 of us wandered off to medi-ya, the jap supermarket at liang court for some foodie shopping after the lunch reception. haha, we all just keep buying random food and now we're trying them all in the office. there's like a strong mix of smells in the office now. japanese crackers especially. YUM YUM.

but there's not what i wanted to say about medi-ya supermarket. i'll blog about the interesting thing later on, when im home and after i upload some pictures.

damn freaking sleepy now! arghh! ohhhh, im gonna catch xmen3 this weekend. :))))

chris ho dropped by to say hi to me at work today after lunch. he's back from US two days ago for a while. still FOS as ever but he's kinda toned down. not the old lets-jump-over-random-high-potted-plants and lets-pee-into-carls jnr cup-cos-restroom-is-bloody-far-away chris ho. anyway, we had fried calamari and just talked shit. didnt bring my camera today so didnt take any pictures but it was really good fun seeing chris :)

quite bored at work these days.

on a happier note, i'll be going to langkawi and penang for some real good food and nice beach for some snorkeling for 5 days in june with calvin! I SIMPLY CAN'T WAIT!!

camy: heh =) okay think i'll be there. what time ah? can we have lunch instead of dinner? :))) so have more time to hang out and no need rush back home. heh propose lah okay? if not nvmm.

passerby: get lost if you have nothing good and true to say. my boyfriend hates smokers and druggies btw and i bet you're a coke-addict so go away :)

can someone tell me did i just see yogs on singapore idol?

anyway, i really dont understand how the singapore idol rejects can do what they do at the auditions.

i dont mean the ones who are like okay but got rejected. im referring to the DUH obvious non-sg idol material people. the CMI ones. if you have never been praised or complimented on your singing and you vocals ever before (which I assume none of the CMI ones have), why would you even consider singing you greatest life passion and to become singapore idol your greatest ambition ever?

the CMI ones really gave me some good abs training which I havent had ever since juelin doesnt eat with me for lunch anymore =(

i really cant imagine being the judges there. i'd be so so frustrated and just throw a bottle at some one the contestants who are so irritating simply. especially the ones who actually think they are very talented (eh hem, hula hoop while i sing a gay rendition of the song) when they are like -_-.. still refuse to get out some more, damn irritating.

caught da vinci code today at cathay. didnt think the movie version was engaging enough, as compared to the book. people who are not christians/not read the book/ zero background knolwdge will just get really bored in the theatre.

haha this is from my cousin's friend: if vjc integrated programme is call VIP and hwa chong's integrated programme is call HIP, so raffles integrated programme is R.I.P?

hi TIM!
hi IRIS!
hi LI!

im getting v e r y bored of life -_-

Tuesday, May 16

at work now. today's pretty cool and relaxed compared to other days. this thursday gonna be real hectic cos of the taxfree world assoc event..i cant seem to cure my cravings for eating half boiled eggs for breakfast. this craving has lasted for a while and i ate it several times recently at yakun's, wangjiao and bossy cafe near my work. but the craving refuses to stop!! maybe its cos i havent had the piping hot ones yet, its always like lukewarm when i eat them. argh! two half boiled eggs + kaya toast + coffee = best breakfast ever!!

bahh i hate my hair. -_- anna toh, i haven't seen you in a while, please appear somewhere in front of me soon ok? haha.

Sunday, May 14

i have decided. to. blog. REGULARLY.
it's one of the best ways to document what happens in my life. the bestest way for my friends to find out what i have been up to. and then i wont get complaints from my friends anymore.
went shopping at far east today with the cousin and the bf. how does walking far east level three and four five/six times in stupid heels that cut sharply in the front sound to you? well, my cousin bought much clothes and i ate much food. haha =) have you all tried the FRIED MARS BAR at far east level one from the shop called chippy or something?

its darn good but fattening. its fried. and its mars bar. with chocolate or vanilla ice cream.

oh yeah, we saw something damn chio today.

damn chio right? the bright orange lamborghini not the ah ma -_-

anyway, something worth noting. we enjoyed the half price staff discount for our dinner buffet at bar&billiard room at raffles hotel last thur. we being = audrey+iris+uni+me. my nice colleague gave me a bottle of white wine complimentary and we had a smashing time catching up and eating our fill.

the reminiscing of the good ol' sec school days

audrey took her first ever neoprint with me. we could still remember it was taken at the neoprint machine at heeren entrance in sec one. people who know audrey from loooong ago will not find it surprising that when we were taking the neo, she was desperately trying to reach higher to place a face into the frame. damn classic. now she's like uni's height?

uni was my first friend i introduced myself formally to, as we had those break the ice sessions in class. and during that session, all i could remember was tiffany's fact about herself and it was "i like to take neoprints".

hehs then we also had the usual catching up on each's love life while we chomped on duck roll, thai chicken, barbecued crayfish and seabass, mushroom creme pasta, live fresh oysters, lobster, chocolate strawberries, pastries.

i am currently very very very troubled over my travel plans. is anyone interested in going for a short (4 or 5 days) holiday trip to near-by beautiful beach locations like langkawi in mid or end june? PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED OKAYY? i am trying desperately to jio more people to go.
