HOLIDAY TRIP 16TH TO 20TH JUNE
Langkawi Day TWO
17th June 2006 (Saturday)

Heh finally found time to squeeze in an entry about the 2nd day of my short holiday. I'm sorry my entries are more like photologs but I think it's easier to give an account this way.

So the second day of our trip, we were scheduled to go for a snorkeling trip at the Pulau Payar Marine Park. We booked this trip when we arrived at Langkawi at this Tours agency near the hotel at RM130 per pax. Snorkeling is a fun experience but the RM130 was bloody not worth it. I'll tell you why later =)

So early early in the morning, we forced ourselves out of bed and scrumbled downstairs to breakfast. Then we waited at the lobby for the bus to pick us up. See the above and below pictures of us in the half-awake and zombified mode.

So the bus drove us to Kuah Jetty and we took a 1hour30min ferry to Pulau Payar. That's us on the top deck of the ferry, enjoying the wind and the sea. Anyway, I like my shades which almost only fits me nicely. All my cousins look weird wearing it and I think it's cos my face is big -_-

All the pictures featured below are taken by the waterproof camera Calvin brought, thus the weird quality. But the pictures turned out quite nice and cool fortunately.

So we stripped down to our swimming gear and got the snorkeling equipment and headed for the water. See all the small fishes around me? There were like so so many of them. And because we didnt bring bread to feed the fishes, they kept mistaking the strings on my life vest for food and kept snipping at the strings. And the stupid stupid fishes nipped once at my thigh and once at my ass!!! STUPID perverted fishes!!!
That's Calvin in the same pose. Haha. He kept laughing at me cos the fishes nipped at me. =(
That's the stupid fish =)

Calvin underwater. Sorry I took such a lousy photo. But it actually looks quite cute lah..

And that's me underwater. Damn cute right? Haha.. I apologise for my boring one-liners photolog but I can't think of anything nice to say. So just enjoy the pictures alright.

There were really many many fishes as seen above. The uncle who brought bread to feed had so many fishes around him but he didnt look like he got nipped by them once. Thus, note to self (and everyone else): To being bread to feed the fish when snorkeling.

I really like this shot of the shark. Very magnificent looking right? Anyway check out the beautiful clear-blue seawater of Langkawi. So very tempting huh? It's so so clear that it almost looks like swimming pool water. I miss Langkawi!!!!

And so the highlight of the trip was the baby shark feeding. I don't understand how come the baby sharks actually arrive before the guys started using fish blood to lure them to nearer the shore. They just suddenly turned up later in the day. And I also don't understand why the fish blood does not attract the bigger sharks and just the baby sharks only. BUT anyway, Calvin was swimming pretty close to them and tried taking a few shots of them in the water while I snapped away with me digital camera onshore. I really like the first picture above, the one zoomed in on the shark.

So anyway, the RM130 Snorkeling at Pulau Payar Marine Park package came with a packed lunch, 2-way ferry trip, hotel-jetty transfer and use of snorkeling equipment. I had expected to be able to snorkel at different parts of the marine park and the whole thing to be quite an exclusive experience. But after the whole trip, I feel that you are better off getting the ferry tickets to the Marine Park, bring your own lunch and rent the snorkeling equipment, which will probably be cheaper than the 130RM we paid. But anyhow, I wanna go snorkeling again!!!

So anyway, we had a long long day and the ferry trip back to Langkawi felt so long and boring. We could not wait to get back to the hotel and have a good good bath and dinner. We had decided to eat at this Chinese Seafood restaurant pretty close to our hotel called Tang Lung Seafood Restaurant. I kept having trouble pronouncing the restaurant's name until Calvin pointed out to me it was actually Lantern, Tang Lung in Chinese. Er, I just didnt see the connection lah! heh =)

Tang Lung Seafood Restaurant :) The food was really good and the price was pretty reasonable for the amount of food we ordered. We ordered BBQ Seabass, claypot beancurd, sambal kangkong, tom yam soup and some other dishes, with beer and white wine. And it only costs us 20 sing each.

I was all flushed and red from the white wine. Anyway I pretty liked the gaudy chingchong red colour and lanterns decoration of the restaurant. Thought it looked pretty cool.

Okay, I think its been a really long post. Well, the day ended with us watching Brazil vs Australia at the Lobby Bar but we didnt finished watching the match cos I was pretty tired. The next post will probably be about the three remaining days summarised together cos we didnt do much on days 4 and 5 spent in Penang. It was a mistake for us to combine Langkawi and Penang cos we were quite tired and also ran into many many adventures during the travelling to Penang and in Penang itself. Some unpleasant adventures which were quite an experience but very tiring. Alright more next time!!

I want to go holiday really badly again!!!!!!

HOLIDAY TRIP 16TH TO 20TH JUNE
Langkawi - Day One
16th June 2006 (Friday)

I am going to blog about my first holiday trip with Calvin in detail, day by day. =) Just for documenting purposes. So first entry about my 5 Days 4 Nights trip to Langkawi and Penang.

That's the two of us, all excited and happy on Malaysian Airlines, travelling SIN-LGK. We had a small meal onboard as it was only a 1 hour 30 min flight. (The food was actually quite nice, well, nicer than the SIA food I had when I went Bangkok last year)

Us taking pictures with the plane we took when we touched down in Langkawi. A rather small plane, Boeing 737. I think it was as small, or even smaller than the Tiger Airways plane I took last year.

So we were transferred to the hotel, Holiday Villa Langkawi in a small van. After checking-in and settling down, which took quite a while (now I have come to truly appreciate Raffles Hotel's fast check-in and gentle breeze services!!), we headed to our first meal at Langkawi!!
Er, no I didnt eat this cow for dinner. We spotted many cows as we walked to dinner at LIGHTHOUSE. After much extensive research, I was really attracted to Lighthouse, where they served seafood and wine BY THE SEA. Many websites boast about the superb sunset views while dining which I was so so looking forward to.
Besides the cow, we also saw this cool signage, painted on the pavement along our way to dinner. This signage "You are walking in the right direction" was followed by this restaurant's name (not Lighthouse) and saying it served the best seafood in Langkawi or something like that.
So we reached Lighthouse with much anticipation and excitement. It looked run down from the behind but when we went in, the white&blue checkered tablecloth by the seaside was just so so mesmerizing. The wind, the sea, the view, the coconut trees swaying in the wind, EVERYTHING was perfect!
But..the sky suddenly grown overcast. -_- And rain started falling. =( Very dramatic but totally non-fictional, the restaurant's piped-in music started playing "Raindrops falling on my head". The caucasian couple beside us were really amused and asked the staff if it was on purpose. Turned out it had been totally coincidental and unplanned! Pretty cool huh!

So we placed our orders and the food arrived after a while. Calvin had a Chicken dish with Flat Face Pasta while I had a Fish dish. Can't remember all the names. After the food had arrived,it rained even more heavily and our food was all covered with rain water even though we were in the sheltered part. Calvin still did not want to move in further cos the ambience outside was much nicer and it was quite an experience dining by the sea AND in the rain. haha.

But fortunately, the sky started to clear and slowly..

Slowly..

The much awaited sunset!!! :)

We witnessed a really exhilaring sight. The sunset views promised by the websites were truly breathtaking. I wished we had a damn pro camera at hand so that we could have frozen that beautiful memory in time.

That's us at Lighthouse. Oh, the food was quite good by the way. But I thought it could have been better. Prices are alright; above average prices - but for the ambience and experience, definitely worth it!!

Anyway, we had a fantastic dinner at Lighthouse, definitely worth a visit if you go Langkawi. After the dinner, we headed back for the hotel, bathed and all and rested quite early cos we were headed to Pulau Payar Marine Park for snorkeling early in the morning.

Lastly, I'll leave you with my favourite picture of the trip.

Calvin+Me, with a gorgeous sunset backdrop.

Calvin: Thank you for the wonderful 5-day trip we had, I still miss everything so much!! More importantly, Thank You for the 1 year and six months we've had together. 26th June 2006 :) ilu

Hello friends. If you wish to exploit Hui Min's staff dining discounts of 50% at Raffles Hotel or Equinox etc, please do not hesitate to do so ASAP as I will be stopping work pretty soon.

I hope to stop work by 15th July but I may work till end of July.

So if you feel like having some nice lunch or dinner at Raffles Hotel or Equinox, do feel free to ask me along. =)

Raffles Hotel :))My favourite Bar & Billiard Room which serves fantastic International buffet! This is where I had our fantastic dinner with Audrey, Iris and Uni the other day, when we had so much fun and food.
Long Bar Steakhouse. One thing about LBSH is that they do the vegetables damn damn delicious! I ate here once when I was showing guests around when my boss was not around.
And that's Doc Cheng's that serves fusion food. One of the first restaurants with fusion food and they now have a new chef. My boss and I ate there with some of his regular guests.

And the all friendly Seah Street Deli. Jukebox and Burgers, American style.. Ate there with Juelin several times cos it's nearest to our favourite Seah Street where we meet each day for lunch.

Anyone hungryy?

Wednesday, June 21

I'm BACK!! after 5 glorious days of adventure, frolicking and enjoyment.

Thursday, June 15

I had Caramel Frap with Calvin at Starbucks the other day. We asked for extra caramel drizzler as usual. They will usually accede to the request and squeeze extra caramel syrup on the whipped cream.. But look at what we got that day...

They squeezed caramel drizzler at the bottom of the cup, sides of the cup, before they put whipped cream and on top of the whipped cream! It was really damn alot, right from the tip of the whipped cream to the bottom of the cup. SHIOK man!! We decided we will go back to this outlet for more caramel frap next time :)

Wendy and Andy's Wedding Solemnisation

you know the famous 060606 wedding day?

My cousin, Wendy had her wedding solemnisation ceremony on that day too!! The above is their personalised guestbook, where they pieced together a small puzzle and framed it up with a large border and got the guests to sign on the border. Quite cute right?

So the hectic day began early in the morning and I wore the same dress I wore to kayhian's thing, so you just might see similar pictures soon.

The place where the ceremony took place. It was like at the alfresco area outside this restaurant, then we had lunch at the restaurant. It was so scary cos at about ten-ish the sky was overcast and threatening, but we managed to get the ceremony done, right before the rain came pouring down.

That's them signing their marriage certificate with the JOP and witnesses etc. My cousin decided to make the affair bigger than usual, with the decorations and photographer and pro make-up etc because their wedding dinner will be held much later, like in 2009. Yes you probably can guess it, they plan to hold it on 090909. haha :)

That's me and my other cousin, the bride's sister taking full length. Yes, can you see the wet and slippery ground behind us?

And that's Calvin and me. The food was actually not bad, considering they only only paid $25 per head. And we were all starving due to lack of breakfast so the food tastes good no matter what. Anyway, I was the emcee for my cousin but it was just really simple welcoming them in and etc.

But it was really such an eventful day cos there were a few glitches here and there. Like how my cousin-in-law forgotten his jacket corsage and someone had to go back home to fetch it and how the wedding march CD-R went missing. And how the JOP left the marriage certificate on another table in the restaurant. But all in all, all these didnt matter lah.

My cousin did hire a pro photog, so better and nicer pictures (esp of the wedding couple) will be coming up. These pictures above are from my camera, hence the lousy quality.

Monday, June 5

just had a damn filling lunch at Doc Cheng's at Raffles with my boss and two guests. the food was quite good; the exotic mushrooms were really really delicious.

anyway, i'm sad cos i cant get my pictures! my laptop's bluetooth refuses to detect my phone bluetooth, my cousin is forever hogging my camera (eh-HUM!!) and i wanna take pictures from camy's camera and kayhian's phone.

i declare yesterday a bump-into-your-ex-boyfriendS day. i coincidentally bumped into 2 ex-es yesterday at wisma while i was out shopping for clothes for my cousin. The most frustrating thing was that i keep running into the two of them; twice for one of them and like 4 times for the other???, around wisma/taka area despite my various attempts to stay away.

to anonymous: i'm going to smu business mgmt :) i'm fervently praying everything is not just a gimmick.

Thursday, June 1

didnt manage to catch x3 over the weekend but we watched OVER THE HEDGE with the cousins and boyfriends late night saturday at plaza sing. was hanging out with calvin before the movie and we decided to go play some arcade games when we got bored. and we got damn fascinated with the machine where you can win handphones and PSP etc. i really really think it's damn likely to win and even if you spend a hundred one-dollar coins on that machine, it'd still be worth it cos a PSP is like six hundred bucks. so we played like ten bucks worth before the movie started, but no, we didnt manage to win anything. BUT ONE DAY I WILL OK!!

anyway.. OVER THE HEDGE was hilarious =)))

Verne the turtle and his family woke up from hibernation and Hammy the hyper squirrel found the newly erected hedge, named "Steve". The family stood around gazing up at the hedge in awe and fear. Then the cunning and desperate racoon RJ came along and enlightened them, much to the objections and skepticism by Verne.

So they began all the food stealing and kunning koping. But they did not live happily ever after because of the Cruella-like woman living in the house adjacent to the hedge.

That's the hyperactive and super emo squirrel Hammy. There are no exact favourites from this movie (maybe the three baby porcupines when they drove the truck!!!) but Hammy was damn hilarious when RJ fed him the isotonic drink and he was travelling at a speed so quick that made everything around him stop. DAMN FREAKING FUNNNY.

That's Hammy with fake rabies. damn retarded right.

So I really enjoyed the movie. If I had watched this movie with Juelin, Sandhya and the likes, it would be damn fun cos we'd just laugh our asses off like no one's business. I remember we once watched this movie at Lido, some retarded movie like the sequel to the HK show about bra starring Louis Koo, and we were sitting on the handles of the seats (we were sitting at the last row) and entertaining ourselves and laughing damn loudly even though the movie was not really funny. The good times :(((
